Magic rallies past Celtics

Vince Carter led a 19-0 surge in the third quarter and finished with 20 points as the visiting Orlando Magic beat Boston 96-89 on Sunday, moving ahead of the Celtics and into second place in the Eastern Conference.

Carter scored nine points during a rally that began after Rajon Rondo's 3-pointer gave the Celtics a 60-51 lead with 7:17 left in the third quarter - Boston's fourth and final field goal of the period.

The Magic turned a 51-40 halftime deficit into a 76-62 lead after the third and stayed in front by at least five points the rest of the way.

Orlando Magic (29-15) at Memphis Grizzlies (23-19), 8 p.m.

The Memphis Grizzlies hope to extend their franchise-record home winning streak to 11 games Monday when they welcome the Orlando Magic to FedEx Forum.

Rudy Gay nailed a pull-up jumper with 1.3 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter on Friday, lifting the Grizzlies to an 86-84 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder for their 10th consecutive win as the host.

Gay finished with 25 points and six rebounds for Memphis. Zach Randolph also scored 25 points, while Marc Gasol totaled 15 points and 13 boards in addition to making a key defensive play prior to Gay's heroics.

Sixers lose 11th straight

Rodney Stuckey scored 27 points and hit the winner with 8.7 seconds left to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 90-86 win over Philadelphia on Wednesday night, the 76ers' 11th straight loss.

Allen Iverson scored 11 points in his second game with the Sixers. He hit the tying jumper with 1:06 left that made it 86-all.

Celtics rally for victory

Kevin Garnett scored 24 points on 11-of-12 shooting, Ray Allen delivered the big blow with a 3-pointer with 1:38 left and the Boston Celtics rallied to beat the host Miami Heat 92-85 on Sunday night.

Paul Pierce scored 15 points and Kendrick Perkins finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds for Boston, which opened a four-game trip by winning its fourth straight. Rajon Rondo had 13 points and 11 assists for the Celtics, who wasted an 11-point third-quarter lead and were down by five with 9 minutes remaining.

Dwyane Wade scored 27 points for Miami. Michael Beasley added 18 and Jermaine O'Neal finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat, who went the final 4:26 without a field goal.

Jameer Nelson scored six of his 21 points in overtime, leading Orlando to a 106-95 win over the Bobcats, snapping Charlotte's franchise-record nine-game home winning streak.

Vince Carter also scored 21 for the Magic, who won their third straight contest. Dwight Howard ended with 10 points, 20 rebounds and seven blocked shots, while Rashard Lewis scored 18 in the victory.

Matt Barnes tallied 13 points for the Magic, who have beaten the Bobcats in seven straight and 10 of the last 11 meetings.
