How a kid from Whiteville became one of baseball’s top prospects

When the high school baseball season began, ECU recruit MacKenzie Gore was ranked by Baseball America as the 38th best draft-eligible prospect in the country, meaning he likely would have been selected in Monday’s Major League Baseball Draft either late in the first round or early in the second. Now he could be a top-five pick.
