North Carolina earlier today finalized a 22-man recruiting class that is generally considered to be among the top 25 or 30 classes in the country, and one of the best in the ACC.

Larry Fedora, the Tar Heels coach, will address the media at 3:30 to talk about the class, which Rivals.com ranks the 21st-best in the country. UNC’s class ranks 28th nationally according to 247sports.com’s composite class ranking.

It takes a while before any recruiting class can be evaluated but sometimes a freshman comes in and plays a significant role. See Quinshad Davis in 2012, and Ryan Switzer last season. Both of them were highly-regarded recruits.

Elijah Hood, the running back from Charlotte, is considered the best player in UNC’s incoming class. He has already enrolled in school – along with four others: DB Allen Artis, TE Brandon Fritts, OL Bentley Spain and CB M.J. Stewart.

Hood was named the North Carolina player of the year by the Associated Press. Rivals.com ranked him among the top 20 prospects in the country. He created some buzz on the Internet when he flushed some Alabama recruiting letters down the toilet.

Oh, recruiting.

Here’s UNC’s class, with star rankings from Rivals. Check back later for some insights from Fedora.
