Brice Johnson, the North Carolina senior forward, was again named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday.
Johnson earned league player of the week honors after he averaged 23 points and 14 rebounds in the Tar Heels’ victories last week against Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. He had 27 points and 11 rebounds against Wake Forest and 19 points and 17 rebounds against Virginia Tech.
This is the third time – and the second time in three weeks – that Johnson has been named ACC Player of the Week, which is decided by a panel of media members that cover the ACC. He also won ACC Player of the Week honors on Dec. 21 and Jan. 11.
Johnson, Duke’s Grayson Allen and N.C. State’s Cat Barber are the only players to have been named ACC Player of the Week multiple times. Allen and Barber have won the award twice this season.
As I mentioned here, Johnson is emerging as the clear frontrunner for ACC Player of the Year honors.
