Katy Colas picked a good time to get her first goal in two years. The senior forward-midfielder came off the bench and scored late in the first half to lift the No. 25 Duke women’s soccer team to a crucial 1-0 victory over visiting LSU on Sunday at Koskinen Stadium.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Blue Devils, who were coming off a disappointing 2-1 loss Friday to Hofstra. With ACC play beginning this week – Duke visits Pittsburgh on Friday – the Blue Devils (4-4) were able to even their record heading into the toughest part of their schedule.
N.C. State: Despite falling behind 2-0 in the first half, N.C. State (2-4-2) battled back for a 2-2 draw at UNC Greensboro.

Over the course of the second half and two overtime periods, the Wolfpack outshot the Spartans (2-4-2) by a 22-6 margin.
Duke: Rookie running back Shaun Wilson was named the National Freshman of the Week by Athlon Sports following his record-breaking performance in Saturday’s 41-3 home victory over Kansas. Wilson rushed 12 times for a school single-game record 245 yards with three touchdowns.

UNC: Freshman Ben Griffin took home his first collegiate title at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate with a score of 10-under 206. The North Carolina team also won its first tournament of the season with a score of 26-under-par 838.
Duke: Celine Boutier carded a three-under-par 68, in the final round of The Evian Championship to move into a tie for 29th in Evian-les-Bains, France.
N.C. State: Ian Dempster and Beck Bond captured the black draw doubles final at the Duke Fab Four Invitational at Cary Tennis Park.
Duke: Chris Mengel and Raphael Hemmeler defeated Kentucky’s Jerry Lopez and Beck Pennington 8-7 (5) in white doubles in the Duke Fab Four Invitational.
Late Saturday: N.C. State women’s claimed the Georgia Benson Hospitality Invitational title with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 31-19) win over the host Bulldogs.
