Duke’s Josh Levine and North Carolina’s Ashley Dai were named ACC Tennis Players of the Week.
Levine helped the Blue Devils to a 2-0 week with both wins on the road against top-30 teams by winning both of his singles matches, at No. 8 Illinois and at No. 30 Northwestern.
Dai clinched the Tar Heels’ 4-3 victory over No. 17 Texas A&M with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Stefania Hristov. She also helped to secure the doubles point.
East Carolina: Sharolta Nonen, a three-time All-America selection at Nebraska and former player on the Canadian National Team, has been named assistant women’s soccer coach at East Carolina, the school announced..
Duke: Seniors Justin George, Will Haus and Jack Rowe were selected team captains by their teammates for the 2015 season.
Swimming and diving
N.C. State: Freshman Anton Ipsen is ACC Swimmer of the Week after sweeping both distance freestyle events. He set the school record in the 1,000 free with a time of 8 minutes, 55.70 seconds, just .08 seconds off the fastest time in the country.
Rachel Mumma is ACC Female Diver of the Week after recording two NCAA Zone “B” qualifying scores and setting a school record with her 1-meter score of 332.32.
North Carolina: Jack Nyquist is the ACC Male Diver of the Week honor for the fifth time after sweeping all four diving events in dual meets against Duke and N.C. State.
