Trevor Lacey has been named one of 16 finalists for the Jerry West Award, which recognizes the top shooting guard in college basketball. The Jerry West Award is sponsored by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Lacey, a 6-3 redshirt junior from Huntsville, Ala., has been N.C. State’s on-court leader and one of the top players in the ACC this season. Lacey averages 16.5 points per game, good for sixth in the ACC. He is among the league leaders in field goal percentage (7th), 3-point field goal percentage (5th), 3-pointers made (7th) and minutes played (4th).
Lacey, who has also grabs 4.6 rebounds per game and has dished out 85 assists, has recorded seven games with 20 or more points.
By early March, the current list of 16 finalists will be narrowed down to five players. The winner will be presented on April 10.

North Carolina: Georgia Bulldogs and North Carolina will face off for the first time in more than 40 years when the teams meet to open the 2016 season in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, officials announced Thursday.
The game is scheduled to be played Sept. 3 in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome.
This will mark the second appearance for both teams in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.
N.C. State: The Wolfpack’s Franziska Jaser has been selected to represent the Germany Under-19 Women’s National Team at the La Manga Tournament in Spain, the German Football Association announced recently.
Spanning from Feb. 28 to March 10, the tournament includes 10 teams and three matches per country. Jaser and Germany will play Sweden (March 5), Italy (March 7) and Norway (March 9).
Jaser is the only NCAA student athlete to represent the German women at the tournament.
