The No. 1 North Carolina women’s tennis team remained unbeaten Sunday with a 7-0 victory over 61st ranked Wake Forest.
North Carolina (19-0, 7-0 ACC) took the early lead over the Demon Deacons with a pair of 8-2 victories in doubles on courts two and three, respectively.
No. 18 Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay were first off on court two, and No. 36 Ashley Dai and Kate Vialle followed soon after on court three for a 1-0 lead.
In singles, Jamie Loeb won on court one, 6-2, 6-4 over Kimmy Guerin to make it 5-0 in favor of the Tar Heels.
N.C. State: The team dropped a 5-2 decision at Florida State.
Meredith: The team cruised to a 9-0 victory over host William Peace.
N.C. State: The No. 37 team dropped a 4-3 contest to No. 16 Virginia Tech.
N.C. Central: The team scored nine runs in the seventh inning to defeat Quinnipiac University 13-10 and then scored the game-winning run in their last at bat to knock off Rider 5-4 in at the Liberty Softball Classic.
ECU: Virginia Commonwealth scored in the top of the eighth inning on an East Carolina error to secure a 3-2 series clinching win in Greenville.
Elon: The team completed a three-game sweep of James Madison with an 8-7 home victory in 13 innings.
Barton: Barton scored on an error with two-out in the bottom of the ninth for a 7-6 home victory over Belmont Abbey.
Mount Olive: Joe Koehler blasted a three-run home run in the seventh inning to secure a 12-3 win against host King University.
Swimming and diving
UNC: The women’s placed 19th in the 2015 NCAA Division I Championships.
N.C. State: Senior Lane Jarred and junior Brittni Watkins were crowned conference champions on floor with at the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships in Towson, Md. Junior Michaela Woodford was named the squad’s MVP.
