N.C. State’s Kemp breaks indoor
BOSTON Erika Kemp broke N.C. State’s indoor school record in the 5,000m, crossing the finish line in 15:45.46 at the BU season opener.
Her time broke current women’s cross country head coach Laurie Henes’ 24-year record by almost 10 seconds and tops the nation in women’s 5,000m times.
Kemp, a Mount Holly, N.J., native, shattered her old 5,000m indoor personal best by almost 31 seconds.
Never miss a local story.
The time should warrant an NCAA Indoor qualifying mark, as only four runners beat Kemp’s time during the 2014-15 season.
Duke: Coming off stunning top-seeded and defending NCAA Champion Florida State on Friday in the NCAA College Cup semifinals, 2-0, the third-seeded and 19th-ranked Duke (14-5-5) will face No. 1 seed Penn State (21-3-2) in the NCAA Championship on Sunday.
