Campbell seniors accept bowl invitations
BUIES CREEK Campbell seniors Greg Milhouse and Dalton Dillon have accepted invitations to play in postseason bowl games.
Milhouse will take part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, while Dillon was a part of the FCS National Bowl.
The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is the premier postseason all-star game for draft-eligible college players.
The game will be played at the StubHub Center on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif. on Jan. 23, and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
The FCS National Bowl was played Dec. 7 at Florida International’s Ocean Bank Field at FIU Stadium. The game showcases draft-eligible college players from non-FBS conferences.
After earning second team accolades in 2014, Milhouse took a first team All-PFL spot in his senior season, recording 49 total tackles, with 12.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. Milhouse ranks among Campbell’s career top-10 in sacks and tackles for loss after just two seasons.
Dillon was a three-time All-PFL performer, including a second team member as a senior in 2015. The fullback posted 137 yards rushing with a touchdown, as well as 21 yards receiving on the year. He was also a two-time Academic All-PFL honoree, taking second team accolades this season.
NC State: Heading into the holiday break, the team is ranked No. 3 for the second straight week in the final USA Today/NWCA Wrestling Coaches poll of the 2015 calendar year. After a 26-15 win over No. 24 Old Dominion last Thursday, the Wolfpack sits at a perfect 11-0 on the season.
Duke: The final TopDrawerSoccer.com individual player rankings for the 2015 campaign have been released with three Blue Devils listed among the top 11 players in the upperclassmen and freshman listings. Junior Christina Gibbons was No. 11 in the upperclassmen rankings, while Taylor Racioppi and Kayla McCoy were tabbed No. 5 and No. 11, respectively, in the freshmen rankings.
Duke: Sophomore Leona Maguire was named the 2015 Women’s Amateur of the Year in the 2015 Irish Golf Writers’ Awards, sponsored by Carr Golf.
Wake Forest: Juniors Will Craig and Nate Mondou each received Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America honors, announced by Collegiate Baseball newspaper on Tuesday. Craig, a consensus All-American and ACC Player of the Year a season ago, is the first team honoree at third base, Mondou is a second team selection at second base.
