N.C. State hires new volleyball head coach
N.C. State Director of Athletics Deborah A. Yow announced the hiring of new volleyball coach Linda Hampton-Keith, solidifying the future of the Wolfpack volleyball program.
“We believe Coach Hampton-Keith is the right architect to build our volleyball program for sustainable success,” said Yow. “Her collegiate coaching experience and work with the USA Volleyball Youth Development Program has prepared her well to lead our program. We welcome Linda, her husband Maark and their daughter Yaeli to the Wolfpack Family.”
Campbell: For the third time this season, Chris Clemons has been named the Crons Brand Big South Conference men’s basketball freshman of the week.
The guard from Raleigh extended his double-figure scoring streak to 11 contests this year in a three-game span when he averaged 18.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals. He made 17-of-18 (.944) from the free-throw line and 9-of-26 threes (.346). On Monday, he was named College Sports Madness Big South player of the week.
Saint Augustine’s: Nine scholar-athletes and cheerleaders earned perfect 4.0 grade-point averages for the 2015 Fall Semester. They are Donell Andrews, Leah Barker, Timothy Carter, Keith Crawford, Shakera Hall, Marley Parker, Maya Presson, Christian Robinson and Isis Thomas.
They were among 104 scholar-athletes and cheerleaders who posted 3.0 grade-point averages or higher for the semester.
The Lady Falcons’ volleyball team had the highest grade-point average (3.618) among the women’s squads and the Falcons’ baseball team finished with the highest grade-point average (3.090) among the men’s squads.
