Wake Forest sophomore Will Zalatoris received a sponsor’s exemption to compete in the 2016 AT&T Byron Nelson, the PGA Tour event held May 16-22 at the TPC Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas.
The tournament will be the second PGA Tour event of Zalatoris’ career. Last year, he made his debut at the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles after winning the Northern Trust Open Collegiate Showcase at the Riviera Country Club.
The tournament, whose past winners include Wake Forest alumnus Lanny Wadkins, is located 20 miles from Zalatoris’ home in Plano, Texas.
Zalatoris enters the spring season leading the Deacons in scoring average at 70.00 and is ranked No. 11 in the Golfstat individual rankings. He will return to action later this month as he looks to defend his Northern Trust Open Collegiate Showcase title in Los Angeles.
