St. Augustine's scored eight runs in the 11th inning to eliminate Shaw 17-9 in the losers' bracket of the CIAA Baseball Championships on Thursday night at Petersburg, Va.The Falcons (21-22) will face either Virginia State or Elizabeth City State at 2 p.m. today. Shaw, the regular-season champion, finishes its season at 29-9.Chris Vette had four RBIs, and Josh Bishop and Joseph Pierce each had three RBIs for the Falcons, who gained a measure of revenge after going 0-4 against the Bears during the regular season.Daniel Moore gained the win, and Frank Mendible got the save for the Falcons.ALSO THURSDAYELIZABETH CITY STATE 17, SHAW 11: Troy Andrews, J.J. House and Nick Johnson hit home runs to lead Elizabeth City State over Shaw.The Vikings (7-28) moved on in the winners' bracket of the double-elimination tournament to face Virginia State, which defeated St. Augustine's 12-5, at 11 a.m. today. The winner of that game will advance to the final at 1 p.m. on Saturday.VIRGINIA STATE 12, ST. AUGUSTINE'S 5: Virginia State (15-20) scored nine runs in the first inning and cruised to the win over the Falcons in the first round of the tournament.
