CHAPEL HILL - Duke starting quarterback Thaddeus Lewis and starting cornerback Leon Wright were cited for underage possession of alcohol early Wednesday morning in Chapel Hill, according to police reports.

Lewis and Wright, both 20, were given Breathalyzer tests after they were stopped at 1700 E. Franklin Street at 1:51 a.m. Both registered a .03 blood alcohol level. The legal limit is .08 -- but because both players are under 21 -- they were issued citations for underage drinking.

A Duke spokesman said the school would not comment on the citations, and Duke football coach David Cutcliffe would handle the matter internally.

Lewis, a junior, threw for 2,430 yards and 21 touchdowns with 10 interceptions in 2007, his second season as the starting quarterback.

Wright, a junior, finished with 67 tackles, three interceptions and a fumble recovery in 2007.
