Christopher Manno struck out a career-high 12 batters through 5 2/3 shutout innings and received two home runs from Nate Freiman and four RBIs from Matt Williams as Duke rolled to a 10-1 baseball victory over Clemson at Durham.

Manno (4-0) gave up four hits and three walks in his six innings of work. He combined with reliever Alex Hassan to limit the Tigers (19-20, 7-13 ACC) to seven hits.

Freiman drove in three runs with his sixth and seventh homers of the season and is now batting .514 over his last eight games with four home runs, 17 RBIs and seven multi-hit outings.

VIRGINIA TECH 4, N.C. STATE 3: Austin Wates belted a two-run homer in the sixth inning and Josh Wymer pitched 4 2/3 inning of shutout relief as host Virginia Tech defeated N.C. State.

The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for N.C. State (26-12, 11-8 ACC). Virginia Tech improved to 17-22 overall and 4-16 in the ACC.

Left-hander Drew Taylor (2-2) gave up a pair of runs in 1 1/3 innings to take the loss. He allowed one hit, a home run, walked two and struck out one. Wymer (5-4) allowed one hit, walked three and struck out eight.

Matt Payne led off the top of the fifth inning with his fourth homer of the season, upping the N.C. State lead to 3-0. The Pack went on to load the bases with one out in the inning, but Wymer came out of the bullpen and avoided further damage by striking out Cockman and Drew Martin.

NORTH CAROLINA 6, BOSTON COLLEGE 0: Junior right-hander Adam Warren tossed seven innings of three-hit ball, and fourth-ranked North Carolina (33-7, 15-4 ACC) broke open a scoreless game with four runs in the sixth to top Boston College (19-20, 8-5) at Cary's USA Baseball National Training Complex.

The Tar Heels extended their current winning streak to a season-best eight games with their sixth shutout of the season. Saturday's win also gives Carolina a 33-7 record at the 40-game mark to equal the 1990 squad for the best start in school history.

Warren improved to 6-0 on the season and 19-0 as a Tar Heel with the win.

LOUISBURG 4-5, USC-SALKEHATCHIE 0-2: Matt Little pitched a one-hitter in the opener as the host Hurricanes (36-8, 21-7 Region X) swept a doubleheader from USC-Salkehatchie.

Seth Canipe homered for the Hurricanes in the second game.

VIRGINIA STATE 14, ST. AUGUSTINE'S 7: Virginia State's Haneef Hill pitched a complete game to give the host Trojans (16-20) a victory over St. Augusitne's in the championship game of the CIAA Tournament.

St. Aug's (22-23) was led by Joseph Pierce, who went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and four RBIs.

GEORGIA STATE 12-14, N.C. CENTRAL 4-0: Host Georgia State (20-16) swept a doubleheader from N.C. Central (6-24). Oliver Jenkins and Greg Pickett had two hits each for NCCU in the second game.
