Findlay at Duke
When: 7 p.m. today
Where: Cameron Indoor Stadium
Radio: WDNC-620, WRBZ-850 Observations
North Carolina isn't the only defending NCAA champion Duke will meet.
Findlay won the Division II national title last season with a 56-53 defeat of Cal Poly Pomona on a Tyler Evans 3-pointer at the buzzer. After finishing 36-0, Findlay is ranked No. 4 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' preseason Division II poll.
Marcus Parker, a 5-foot-9 senior guard for Findlay, was voted the preseason player of the year in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by the conference's coaches.
Although Duke won its exhibition opener 128-70 over Pfeiffer, the Blue Devils played faster and more sloppily than they had hoped.
Even though coach Mike Krzyzewski has his biggest lineup ever, he does want to run the fast break and get easy baskets. The ability of big guys such as Kyle Singler and Mason Plumlee allows Duke to get out on the break.
But the Blue Devils need those breaks to finish as smoothly as they start, and that didn't always happen against Pfeiffer.
