Duke junior guard Nolan Smith has been named ACC Player of the Week while Georgia Tech freshman forward Derrick Favors earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors.
Smith averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds last week in the eighth-ranked Blue Devils' wins over Charlotte and Radford. On the week, Smith shot 56 percent (15-of-27) from the field, hitting six of 10 3-pointers.
Coming off a two-game NCAA suspension for playing in an unsanctioned summer league, Smith had a career-high 24 points in Tuesday's 101-59 win over Charlotte. In Saturday's 104-67 victory over Radford, Smith finished with 20 points and seven assists.
Favors, a 6-foot-10 freshman forward, averaged 14.0 points, and 7.7 rebounds as the Yellow Jackets won two games in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Women's honors went to North Carolina's Cetera DeGraffenreid and Virginia's Simone Egwu (rookie).
DeGraffenreid, the player of the week, averaged 21 points to lead the fourth-ranked Tar Heels to victories over Coastal Carolina and UNLV.
Football
Spiller a Walker finalist: Clemson's C.J. Spiller is among three finalists for the Doak Walker Award.
Spiller joins Alabama's Mark Ingram and Stanford's Toby Gerhart as finalists. The award goes to the country's top running back.
ACC honors: Two players each from Miami and Virginia Tech earned weekly honors from the league.
Miami quarterback Jacory Harris was the league's top offensive back while linebacker Darryl Sharpton was named the top defensive lineman after a win over Duke.
Virginia Tech guard Sergio Render was the week's top offensive lineman, while linebacker Cody Grimm was the week's top defensive back after a win over N.C. State.

Cross Country
Duke women eighth: The Duke women finished eighth in the NCAA Division I championships at Terre Haute, Ind.
Villanova won the title.
Angela Bizzarri of Illinois was the women's champion, running the 6,000-meter course in 19:46.8.
Duke was led by Carly Seymour (25th in 20:37.5).
N.C. State's Emily Pritt, competing as an individual, finished 17th in 20:22.8.
On the men's side, N.C. State was 27th and Duke tied for 28th.
N.C. State's Ryan Hill was the top ACC finisher on the 10,000-meter course (23rd in 30:04.6).
