Two-year starting left tackle Cameron Goldberg was suspended from the Duke football team for a violation of team policy, coach David Cutcliffe announced on Tuesday.

Goldberg was participating in spring drills but will not play in Saturday's 1 p.m. spring game at Wallace Wade Stadium. He has been suspended from all football-related activities effective immediately but will have time to earn his way back onto the team in time for the beginning of preseason practice in August.

A 6-foot-6, 280-pound senior from Lutherville, Md., Goldberg started all 12 games last season at left tackle. He has 23 starts in 32 career games.

ECU GAME MOVED: East Carolina's regular-season finale against Texas-El Paso, originally scheduled for Nov. 29 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, has been moved to Friday, Nov. 28, to accommodate a live CBS College Sports national TV broadcast, Conference USA said Tuesday.

ECU, network and league officials set a 1 p.m. kickoff in order to avoid conflicting with the N.C. High School Athletic Association's Friday night playoff schedule.

YOW EARNS COURAGE AWARD: N.C. State coach Kay Yow has received the Mildred "Babe" Zaharias Didrikson Courage Award from the Daphne, Ala.-based U.S. Sports Academy.

Joe Szlavik, Academy Board of Visitor member and president of the U.S. Sport Alliance, presented the award during Sunday's Wolfpack team banquet at the McKimmon Center on campus.

Yow, who has been battling cancer, recently completed her 37th year as a college coach and is one of six NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches to achieve 700 career victories.

The Courage Award is named in honor of the former Olympic track and field gold-medalist and champion golf pro who won five tournaments, including the U.S. Open, after being diagnosed with cancer during the prime of her career. Learn more at www.ussa.edu.

MEMPHIS LOSING ROSE: Freshman guard Derrick Rose said he was jumping to the NBA on Tuesday, the same day coach John Calipari agreed to a contract extension with NCAA Tournament runner-up Memphis.

Rose, a 6-foot-3 guard, is expected to be taken with one of the top picks in the draft.

DAVIS GOES TO PROVIDENCE: Keno Davis, The Associated Press' national coach of the year whose inaugural Drake team won 28 games and earned a NCAA bid this season, was hired as Providence's new coach. Davis, 36, is the son of former longtime Iowa coach Tom Davis.

SENDEROFF GETS JOB: Rob Senderoff, involved in a phone-call scandal that led to Kelvin Sampson's resignation and NCAA scrutiny at Indiana, was hired as an assistant at Kent State, returning to the school where he spent four years before joining Sampson's staff.

LSU FORWARD SIGNS WITH AGENT: Forward Anthony Randolph, who announced last week that he was leaving Louisiana State for the NBA Draft, signed with an agent on Tuesday, officially ending his college career.

DEACONS HAND OUT AWARDS: Bobby Hoekstra received the inaugural Skip Prosser Award as Wake Forest handed out honors Tuesday at its team banquet.

The award was created by the coaching staff to recognize the player who best represents the values and virtues displayed by the late coach, including integrity, character, trustworthiness and an emphasis on academics.

ACC MEN'S TENNIS North Carolina's Chris Kearney and Virginia's Somdev Devvarman shared the player of the week honor for the final week of the season. UNC and Virginia earned a first-round byes to the ACC tournament, which runs Thursday-Sunday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

ACC WOMEN'S TENNIS: Duke freshman Ellah Nze has been selected the ACC player of the week. Duke has a first-round bye and the ACC tournament'S No. 2 seed.

SOFTBALL

N.C. STATE 1-2, CHARLOTTE 0-1: An RBI triple by Blair Harkey gave the Wolfpack (27-20) a 1-0 nonconference road victory over the 49ers (25-22). In the second game, Alyssa Albritten belted a solo homer to dead center in the top of the ninth to give the Pack a 2-1 win and the sweep.
