Duke added one of the top high school senior basketball players in the country Thursday when 6-foot-10 Miles Plumlee picked the Blue Devils.Plumlee, a native of Warsaw, Ind., plays at Arden (N.C.) Christ School.He signed with Stanford last fall, but he sought a release from his national letter of intent after Stanford coach Trent Johnson left for LSU."He got his release and immediately committed to Duke," said Dave Telep, the national recruiting coordinator for Scout.com."This is an incredible feat for Duke."Duke already has a commitment for 2009 from Miles' younger brother, 6-10 Mason.Telep said Miles Plumlee will have an immediate impact on the Blue Devils' program."He gives Duke a legitimate frontcourt scoring threat," Telep said.Scout.com ranks Miles Plumlee the No. 58 senior in the country."Miles was Stanford's best recruit, and he was going to play significant minutes there," Telep said.Former Duke assistant Johnny Dawkins was hired to be Stanford's coach this week, but Miles Plumlee had already decided to withdraw his commitment.There is a third Plumlee son playing at Christ School, 6-10 Marshall.
