As one of the 16 seeded teams in the tournament, N.C. State received a first-round bye. Portland won 2-1 in overtime at New Mexico Thursday.

The Wolfpack is making its 13th NCAA Tournament appearance (5-11-2 all-time). Twice the Wolfpack has advanced past the second round, making the Final Four in 1990 and the quarterfinals in 1991.

N.C. State and Portland have met only once before, with the Pilots taking a 2-0 victory in the 1989 Met Life Classic at Duke.

Portland will be without its All-West Coast Conference goalkeeper, Austin Guerrero, after he received a red card in the win over New Mexico. Freshman Justin Baarts, who played five minutes against New Mexico for his only action this season, will start.
