GEORGIA ICON RETIRES: Larry Munson ended 43 years as the radio play-by-play voice for Georgia football games when he said Monday he has called his last game.

Munson, 85, underwent surgery April 4 to remove blood clots from his brain, but he returned to work Georgia's first two home games. He said he won't be in the booth for Saturday's game against Alabama.

PONDER TO REMAIN STARTER AT FSU: Christian Ponder will start at quarterback for Florida State and D'Vontrey Richardson will remain the backup Saturday when the Seminoles meet unbeaten Colorado in Jacksonville.

Although neither sophomore was effective in Saturday's 12-3 loss to 16th-ranked Wake Forest, Florida State coaches didn't turn to the far more experienced Drew Weatherford, who is languishing on the bench despite 33 career starts.

"It wouldn't do any good except to cause more confusion," coach Bobby Bowden said Monday.

ACC HONORS: N.C. State's Russell Wilson and Miami's Robert Marve were honored Monday as the ACC's offensive back and rookie of the week.

They joined Georgia Tech offensive tackle Andrew Gardner, Miami linebacker Glen Cook, Wake Forest safety Kevin Patterson and Demon Deacons kicker Sam Swank in claiming weekly awards.

Swank was also honored as one of three Lou Groza national kickers of the week.

Wilson threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns in leading the Wolfpack to a 30-24 overtime upset of East Carolina, but he was injured and is out indefinitely.

The first phase, which will include grading, utilities, facilities access, sports lighting, the track and the athletic field, are expected to be completed in the spring. Meredith is investing up to $4.3 million for the new complex.

Meredith sponsors six sports -- basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball -- in the NCAA Division III and is a member of the USA South Athletic Conference.
