HARRISON BECK
YEAR: Junior
HT/WT: 6-2, 220
HOMETOWN: Clearwater, Fla.
PREP RANKING: No. 3 pro-style quarterback by rivals.com
N.C. STATE STATS: 110-for-204, 1,256 yards, 4 touchdowns, 12 interceptions
LAST START: 9/29/07 vs. Louisville
ANALYSIS: Coach Tom O'Brien says that if you're looking for somebody to stand back in the shotgun and fire the ball all over the field, Beck is your guy. Beck has a strong arm but tends to throw into coverage too often.
He has thrown three times as many interceptions as touchdown passes.
DANIEL EVANS
YEAR: Senior
HEIGHT/WT: 6-2, 200
HOMETOWN: Raleigh
PREP RANKING: Second-team all-state
N.C. STATE STATS: 357-for-669, 3,922 yards, 18 touchdowns, 27 interceptions
LAST START: 9/6/08 vs. William & Mary
ANALYSIS: Evans showed promise in 2006 wins over Boston College and Florida State, and during a four-game winning streak last season. But this season he has completed only 34.8 percent of his passes with three interceptions, failing to show the good judgment that overcame his lack of athletic ability in the past. That's why he will back up Harrison Beck on Saturday.
