North Carolina coach Roy Williams will be wearing a sling on his left arm for the next four weeks after undergoing surgery Tuesday to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder, the school announced.

He suffered the injury in early October when he slipped on a wet step at a golf course during a charity event.

The surgery lasted 90 minutes. Williams returned home later in the day, and he expects to return to work later this week. He should be on the bench Sunday when the 11th-ranked Tar Heels play Nevada, according to the news release.

The rehabilitation on his shoulder is expected to last several months.

Tuesday's results

ACC men

Florida 68, Florida State 52: Kenny Boynton, Erving Walker and Alex Tyus scored 13 points apiece as host Florida (4-0) beat Florida State (3-1), snapping a three-game losing streak in the series.

Stanford 57, Virginia 52: Landry Fields scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Stanford (3-2) past Virginia (3-2) in the Cancun Classic.

Jeff Jones led the Cavaliers with 17 points.

Cincinnati 69, No. 21 Maryland 57: Yancy Gates scored 17 points to lead Cincinnati (4-0) past Maryland (4-1) and into the championship game of the Maui Invitational.

Wake Forest 76, Winston-Salem State 52: Ishmael Smith and C.J. Harris scored 16 points apiece to pace Wake Forest (4-0) past Winston-Salem State (1-4).

Area women

Campbell 78, UNC Asheville 67: Ashley Williamson scored a season-high 16 points to lead Campbell (3-1) to a road win.

Meredith 67, Bennett 61: Megan Rahn scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the visiting Angels (1-2).

Peace 68, Piedmont Baptist 59: Leanne Horne scored 14 points for host Peace (2-1).
