WHAT TO WATCH

North Carolina forward Deon Thompson finally came out of his haze during Friday's first round, scoring 15 points and grabbing eight rebounds after struggling throughout the ACC Tournament. The Tar Heels need his success to continue tonight. The Razorbacks feature a host of big guys whose first order of business will be to wear down Tyler Hansbrough in the lane. Thompson, as well as Alex Stepheson and maybe even Mike Copeland, need to keep some of the pressure off Hansbrough by applying their muscle to Arkansas.

KEY PLAYERS

Arkansas forward Sonny Weems scored 31 points during his team's NCAA Tournament opener against Indiana. Look for 6-foot-4 UNC junior Marcus Ginyard -- who has been struggling to make layups and dunks lately but who rarely struggles on defense -- to try to slow down the 6-6 Weems.

* A victory today would match the UNC school record for wins in a season (the Tar Heels also won 34 in 1992-93 and 1997-98).

* The Tar Heels are 1-2 against the Razorbacks in the NCAA Tournament. The last time they met in the postseason was at the 1995 Final Four semifinals in Seattle, when Carolina lost.
