North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson had his first court appearance on a driving after consuming alcohol charge continued Tuesday until early August.

Lawson also faces a charge of violating a local noise ordinance and a charge of driving with a revoked license.

Lawson, 20, was stopped at 2:33 a.m. June 6 on North Columbia Street, in the heart of town. The officer stopped Lawson, who was alone in a 2005 four-door Chevrolet with Maryland plates, after hearing loud music coming from the car, said police Capt. Chris Blue.
