OMAHA, NEB. - Road roommates are assigned by North Carolina's baseball coaches in rotating combinations before the season, and the coaches often try to match freshmen with experienced players. But it doesn't always last.

Senior reliever Rob Wooten and starting right-hander Alex White had to swap roomies early-on because, frankly, they just wanted to catch some (quiet) z's.

"At the beginning of the year, I was roomed up with Nate Striz at Florida Atlantic," Wooten said recently, referring to a freshman pitcher. "And he snored so loud that I couldn't take it anymore; I had to get somebody else. And it's funny because Alex's roommate, Brian Moran, he snores too."

One night during that series, Wooten said, "Alex came out of his room at the same time [I did] and was like, 'I can't sleep with that.' "

So now, he said, "They snore together, and me and Alex sleep in peace."
