Kingston, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Micah Burke fired a second-round, 10- under 62 on Friday and he holds a 2-shot lead at the suspended Great Waterway Classic

With only a few groups out on the course in the morning, heavy rain drenched the Loyalist Golf and Country Club, causing a delay. Players did not get back out on the course until 2:30 p.m. ET and most of the afternoon groups still had not started their second rounds when play was suspended due to darkness.

Burke, who is seeking his first victory on the PGA Tour Canada, finished 36 holes at 12-under 132. Burke has missed the cut in five of eight events this season, with his best finish coming at the Forces and Families Open two weeks ago, where he ended tied for 32nd.

Riley Wheeldon was also able to finish his second round and he carded a 5- under 67. He is alone in second place at 10-under 134. Stephan Carney (68) is in sole possession of third place at 9-under.

Alan McLean and Rafael Campos are both tied for fourth at minus-8. McLean finished his second round with a 63, while Campos is through 16 holes and will finish his round Saturday morning.

First-round leader Jay Vandeventer shot a 1-over 73 on Friday and he is tied for sixth at 7-under 137 with Peter Campbell (72), Daniel McCarthy (67), Julian Etulain (67), Seann Harlingten (68), Darren Wallace (70), Jeff Dennis and Daniel Miernicki. Dennis is through 15 holes, while Miernicki has not begun his second round.

Burke began his day with two straight pars before pouring in his first birdie at No. 3. After another par on four, Burke drained an eagle at the par-5 fifth. Burke made it two eagles in three holes when he eagled the par-5 seventh as well. He finished his front nine at minus-6 with a birdie at No. 8 and a par at No. 9.

Burke made the turn with yet another gain at No. 10 and he followed that up with three straight pars from 11. Burke made three birdies in four holes from No. 14 to get to minus-10 and he ended his round with a par on 18 to finish 36 holes at 12-under.

NOTES: Burke's best finish on tour was at last season's Cape Breton Celtic Classic, where he ended tied for eighth ... Wheeldon's best finish this season was a tie for eighth at the Syncrude Boreal Open ... Second-round play will resume on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. ET.
