The 2017 SAS Championship has landed a big commitment — John Daly.
Daly, one of pro golf’s most colorful, entertaining and at times volatile players, has committed to play in the PGA Tour Champions event, to be held Oct. 13-15 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary. It will be his first appearance in the SAS after missing last year’s tournament because of a prior commitment.
Daly, a former British Open and PGA champion, is 14th on the Charles Schwab Cup money list with $619,266. He earned his first career victory on the PGA Tour Champions this year at the Insperity Invitational in May.
“Having John Daly as part of the SAS Championship is exciting for our fans, who will get to see him up close at Prestonwood,” tournament director Jeff Kleiber said in a statement. “He is one of the most well-known golfers in the world, and we are eager to add him to an already elite field of golfers.”
