Eduardo Romero didn't hesitate when asked about the significance of his second triumph on the Champions Tour.

"For Romero, it's another victory," the Argentine player said Sunday after winning the Dick's Sporting Goods Open by one shot in Endicott, N.Y. "But for the country, it's a new victory for the youngest players. Golf is growing up and up and up. This is very important for Latin America, especially Argentina."

Romero, who never won on the PGA Tour but has more than 90 victories worldwide, had a closing 3-under 69 to beat Fulton Allem (69) and Gary Koch (65) for his first triumph since the 2006 Tradition. Romero finished at 17-under 199, equaling the score recorded by R.W. Eaks a year ago in the inaugural event.

"I'm working hard for this victory," Romero said. "After my first victory, I played so well but no victories. I think it was time to retire sometimes. But it's not. I'm ready again. Finally, it's coming because I'm working hard."

Crowd favorite Joey Sindelar was one shot off the lead entering the final hole, but his tee shot sailed into the right trees and he made double bogey to finish fourth at 14-under 202, his fourth top-five finish in nine events since turning 50 in March and joining the Champions Tour.

ALSO SUNDAY

NW ARKANSAS CHAMPIONSHIP: Seon Hwa Lee birdied the final hole for a one-stroke victory over Jane Park and Meena Lee in the LPGA Tour event in Rogers, Ark.

Seon Hwa Lee closed with a 4-under 68 to finish at 15-under 201. Meena Lee (70) had a chance to tie on 18, but missed a 15-foot birdie putt.

Park shot a 62 and was tied for the lead when she came off the course. Because the other contenders were just making the turn, Park didn't expect her score to hold up. She ended up keeping the clubhouse lead until Seon Hwa Lee's birdie.

EUROPEAN OPEN: Ross Fisher shot a 4-under 68 to win the PGA European Tour event by seven strokes over Sergio Garcia in a wire-to-wire victory.

The 27-year-old Englishman finished with a 20-under total of 268. Garcia shot 66, the best round on a day of strong winds and rain in Ash, England.
