Several golfers who teed it up at the SBS Championship last weekend stayed in Hawaii for this tournament. Geoff Ogilvy, who won the season-opener on Sunday, is not one of them.

Vijay Singh is scheduled to compete for the first time since knee surgery in November. Ernie Els, Sean O'Hair, Retief Goosen, John Daly and all four major champions from last year are in the field.

Last year, it was a former Masters winner that visited the winner's circle. Zach Johnson shot a five-under 65 on Sunday to claim victory by two strokes over David Toms and Adam Scott. Toms is in the field this week, while Scott is not.

LPGA Tour unveils lean 2010 schedule

Reflecting a year of economic and organizational turmoil, the LPGA Tour on Wednesday released a leaner schedule for its upcoming 2010 season.

It also announced a new sponsor and home for the second major of the year.

There are only 24 official tournaments on the schedule for next season, which begins overseas on Feb. 18 at the Honda LPGA Thailand. That is down from 27 events on the 2009 docket, which started in Hawaii at the now-defunct SBS Open at Turtle Bay.

LPGA loses Samsung as sponsor of World Championship

Samsung, the namesake of the LPGA Tour's Samsung World Championship since 1995, is out as the tournament's title sponsor.

The news was first announced by Golf Channel and the Sports Business Journal.

Acting LPGA Tour commissioner Marty Evans told the tour in a memo that "all indications during the tournament week were to the contrary."

This Week in Golf - October 20th through October 25th

This is the first time since 2004 that all four major champions are competing in this event. Between duel winners and Tiger Woods missing last year due to injury, it has been five years since the season's major winners all played the Grand Slam.

Jim Furyk won last year in a playoff over Padraig Harrington. Furyk got into the event as an alternate since Woods was unable to play after knee surgery. With the victory, Furyk joined Woods, Greg Norman and Andy North as the only multiple winners of this event.

Of this year's field, only Cabrera has competed in this event before. In 2007, Cabrera birdied the third playoff hole to defeat British Open champion Todd Hamilton.

Viking Classic washed out again on Friday

The first round of the Viking Classic was washed out for the second consecutive day on Friday, as Annandale Golf Club is unplayable.

The plan is to start the first round at 8:20 a.m. (et) Saturday morning, but bad weather in the forecast for most of Friday and into Saturday. The course is under water after Thursday's storm, and two additional inches are expected to fall on Friday, so Annandale may not be ready on time Saturday.

This marked the first time consecutive rounds were postponed on the PGA Tour since the 2005 BellSouth Classic. That tournament was cut to 54 holes and won by Phil Mickelson on Monday.
