Doug Barron's one-year suspension from the PGA Tour came after the golfer tested positive for a beta-blocker and testosterone, according to court documents.

In documents filed in U.S. District Court in Memphis, it was revealed that the positive tests came during the St. Jude Classic on June 11.

Barron, the first player to receive a suspension since testing began in July 2008, has sued the PGA Tour in an attempt to lift the ban. The case was being heard Friday.

Report: Doctor who treated Woods subject of PED probe

A Canadian doctor who has treated golfer Tiger Woods and other sports stars is under investigation by the FBI and suspected of providing athletes with performance-enhancing drugs, according to a newspaper report.

The New York Times reported Monday night that the FBI's investigation of Anthony Galea stems from his arrest Oct. 15 in Toronto by Canadian police.

The paper reported Galea's legal problems began in late September when his assistant was stopped by authorities crossing the United States border from Canada. Inside her car, authorities found Galea's medical bag, which contained four drugs.

U.S. magistrate denies restraining order to Barron

A U.S. magistrate in Memphis has denied Doug Barron's request for a temporary restraining order that would have allowed him to play in the second stage of the PGA Tour qualifying tournament.

In a statement Monday evening, the PGA Tour said it was "pleased with the court's decision" but noted it would not have further comment.

Barron was given a one-year suspension by the PGA Tour for testing positive for a beta-blocker and testosterone, according to court documents.
