The NCHSAA finalized its lacrosse conferences for next year with just a handful of changes in the East.
There are no changes to the boys’ Triangle-area conferences and just one change in the girls’ – Pinecrest joins the Southwest Wake Athletic Conference teams. Two area teams that planned to play but did not – the Southern Vance and Cary girls – are still listed as having an intent to play this spring. Southeast Raleigh's boys were taken off the list after the first draft.
The biggest growth in the East is in the coastal area. Croatan, West Brunswick and West Carteret have added boys lacrosse teams while Northside-Jacksonville, Havelock, South Brunswick and West Brunswick are starting girls lacrosse teams.
The NCHSAA gives numeric names to each conference because many of them combine schools from different leagues. For instance, “Conference 4” in boys lacrosse features seven Cap Eight teams and one Greater Neuse River teams.
First Flight joined Conference 2 after being an independent last year.
The projected eastern conferences are below (changes since the first draft are in bold).
