Bobby Guthrie, a former Wake County schools athletics director, will be inducted into the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Hall of Fame on Dec. 16 in National Harbor, Md.
Guthrie was the first high school coach in the country to become an Accredited Interscholastic Coach by the National Federation of State Associations and was the Federation’s national coach educator of the year in 2010.
He also recently reformatted the N.C. High School Athletic Association handbook and in 2010 revised the N.C. Department of Public Instruction Middle School Athletic Manual.
Guthrie is in the NCHSAA Hall of Fame and the Southern Alamance High School Hall of Fame.

Stough wins honor: Connor Stough of Chapel Hill won the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award after leading the Tigers to a 39-28 football victory against previously undefeated Southern Durham.
Stough completed 24 of 44 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns as Chapel Hill knocked off the Spartans.
High school showcase: The Millbrook Winter Showcase, a one-day series of five boys’ varsity basketball games, is scheduled for Saturday at Millbrook High.
Panther Creek and Wilmington Hoggard will start at 1:30 p.m. Fayetteville Village Christian and Raleigh Neuse Christian will play at 3, followed by Fayetteville Freedom Christian and Charlotte Carmel Christian.
Northern Durham will play Fayetteville Terry Sanford at 6.
The featured game will be at 7:30 between Millbrook and Fayetteville Trinity Christian, which is led by junior point guard Dennis Smith Jr. ESPN ranks Smith as the No. 5 prospect in the Class of 2016.
Charlotte walk-on: Cam Pappas, a junior and Cedar Ridge High graduate, made the varsity men’s basketball team at UNC Charlotte as a walk-on. The 49ers are 4-2. Pappas hasn’t gotten into a game yet.
Chicago pick: Michael Todd of Cary Academy and the Marlins of Raleigh club swim team committed to the University of Chicago as a swimmer.
