Southern Vance football coach Lewis Young resigned this week following the Raiders’ 0-11 year. Young was head coach for five seasons and was the defensive coordinator when the Raiders went to the 2006 2AA state championships game.
Young’s first two teams made the playoffs, including a playoff win in 2013, but his last three teams went 1-10, 2-9 and 0-11.
His five-year record was 14-43.
“Coach Young is a well-respected and important member of the Southern Vance family who has positively impacted the lives of a countless number of our student-athletes,” athletics director Joseph Sharrow said in a statement. “We will miss his dedication and loyalty to Southern Vance football and thank him for his service to our school and community.”
