Two members of N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A champion Broughton’s golf team earned spots on The News & Observer All-Metro boys team.
Teammates Stephen Saleeby, the 2013 4A champ, and Preyer Fountain tied for fourth place and helped the Caps to the team title. Fountain, a junior, committed to the University of North Carolina this week.
The squad also includes Millbrook junior Stephen Franken, the 4A runner-up after losing in a playoff for the title. Franken shot a 68 during the final round to force the playoff.
All of the All-Metro golfers finished in the top four in their state tournaments except for Ben Griffin of East Chapel Hill, who won NCHSAA championships as a freshman and junior. Griffin, a UNC recruit, failed to qualify for this year’s championships.
