Panther Creek and Chapel Hill met in the preseason and tied 3-3. For the rest of 2014, they were at the top of their games, each advancing to the NCHSAA championship.

Chapel Hill won the Class 3A title and ends the year No. 1 in The N&O’s area rankings. Panther Creek, whose first loss came in the 4A title match, is second.

The 3A champion Tigers placed two players – North Carolina recruit Alexandra Kimball and defender Megan Dell – on the list while the 4A runner-up Catamounts placed three: Celeste Barnard, Courtney Cash and Rachael Everhart.

Leesville Road’s Mary Kate Bowers, Kimball, Cardinal Gibbons’ Morgan Reid and Cleveland’s Emily Truelove are two-time All-Metro selections.
