Wake Christian could not have started its football season any better as the Bulldogs defeated the visiting Chatham Central Bears, 48-0.
The Bulldogs scored four different ways in the first quarter to open up an early 34-0 lead.
Nathaniel Williams connected with Paul Gore on a 51-yard pass on the opening play of the game. Two drives later Jermaine Callum added an 18-yard rushing touchdown and topped that with a fumble recovery for a touchdown on the next drive.
Matthew Buffaloe intercepted a Hunter Little pass and ran it back for 32 yards to close out the first quarter.
The Bears were led by receiver D’Marco Thomason with 6 catches for 56 yards and Little with 65 all-purpose yards.
From the opening kickoff, Wake Christian controlled the game, scoring on the opening drive and had the offensive play of the game on a 51-yard pass play from Nathaniel Williams to Paul Gore.
