Early storms on Thursday washed out plans for Clayton, South Johnston, Smithifeld-Selma and Corinth Holders to get an early jump on the holiday weekend with their football game. Heavy afternoon and evening storms led to both schools postponing their scheduled contests.
Smithfield-Selma and Clinton tried to get their game started Thursday night, even shifting up the kick off time trying to beat the weather. But a rash of lightning never let the game get started.
Clayton and South Johnston planned to make up their game on Monday night at 6, as were SSS and Clinton.
Corinth Holders and Wilson Hunt did not officially reschedule their game over the weekend. Both of those teams have open dates on Sept. 30 and are pondering making up the contest then.
