Game of the week: Cleveland 56, Clayton 53: Clayton’s Eric Hoy ran for 314 yards and passed for 215 yards in a 56-53 loss to Cleveland. Aaron Farmer of Cleveland rushed for 144 yards and passed for 221.
Defense: Wake Forest’s defenders held Panther Creek to minus-47 yard rushing and 81 yards in total offense in a 23-6 win.
Turnover man: Leesville Road junior Jason Thompson intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble in 34-12 win over Durham Jordan.
Comeback: Carrboro’s Trai Sharp missed most of the 2013 season with a knee injury, but opened 2014 with 335 yards rushing in a 39-38 win over Cedar Ridge.
Dylan Parham, Southeast Raleigh: Tossed a game-winning 35-yard touchdown pass with 6.5 seconds left as the Bulldogs handed Fayetteville Britt an 18-13 loss. Parham completed 13 of 25 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns.
Luke Massei, Green Hope: Drove his team for the winning touchdown during the closing seconds of a 24-23 win against Cardinal Gibbons. He completed 23 of 46 passes for 267 yards.
Tripp Harrington, East Wake: Passed for 320 yards and two touchdowns and ran for three scores in a 42-28 victory over South Johnston.
Wesley Wagner, Cardinal Gibbons: Completed 18 of 35 for 278 yards in the loss to Green Hope.
Vick Clay, Leesville Road: Completed 13 of 16 passes for 214 yards and two scores in a 34-12 win against Durham Jordan.
Marcus Marshall, Millbrook: Rambled for 203 yards in a 34-14 win against Fuquay-Varina.
Owen Wilkinson, Broughton: Completed 20 of 32 passes for 221 yards in a 41-14 victory over Cary.
Cole Sakowski, Corinth Holders: Passed for 191 yards in a 24-20 loss to Northern Nash.
Isaiah Totten, Apex: Rushed for 175 yards in a 46-10 win against Harnett Central.
Bryce Love, Wake Forest: Rushed for 150 yards on 14 carries in a 23-6 win against Panther Creek.
Nyheim Hines, Garner: Gained 167 yards 28 carries in a 28-21 loss to Middle Creek.
Johnny Frasier, Princeton: Scored on an 87-yard kickoff return, a 47-yard reception and a 46-yard run in a 56-42 win against East Carteret.
