Player of the week: Marcus Marshall of Millbrook rushed 28 times for a school record 350 yards in Friday’s 43-35 first-round 4AA win over Fayetteville Britt. Marshall scored on runs of 25, 8, 30, 63 and 80 yards.
The Wildcats snapped the ball only 17 times in the second half, with Marshall carrying the ball 12 times for 249 yards and four touchdowns. Britt ran 47 plays but was thwarted by interceptions by Elijah Coley and Raul Oquendo.
Passer of the week: Aaron Farmer of Cleveland completed 22 of 33 passing attempts for 466 yards and four touchdowns in the Rams’ 69-49 win over Gray’s Creek.
Game of the week: Panther Creek nipped Holly Springs 24-21 in double overtime, overcoming a 14-0 deficit in the fourth quarter. Brenden Magner passed for 225 yards and three touchdowns. Phillip Stone booted a 21-yard field goal in overtime, and the Catamounts stopped a fourth-and-one run.

Game of the week II: West Craven stopped South Johnston’s two-point conversion attempt with 57.2 seconds left to hold on to a 31-29 victory. South Johnston had trailed 31-7 at the half.
Defense: Orange’s Bryse Wilson broke through the line to make a tackle on a two-point conversion attempt with 8 seconds left to help preserve a 21-20 victory over Lee County in 3AA.
Special teams: Raekwon Britton returned two blocked punts for touchdowns and returned a fumble for another score in a 45-6 victory over Wilmington Laney. Jaelun Dean returned another blocked punt for a score. Garner blocked five kicks in the game.
Matt McKoy, Wakefield: Led the Wolverines’ 40-35 upset win over Heritage by completing 17 of 34 passes for 361 yards and four touchdowns. Marius Cooper had four catches for 138 yards.
Bryce Love, Wake Forest: Rushed 16 times for 227 yards and scored three touchdowns.
Johnny Frazier, Princeton: Rushed only seven times, but gained 153 yards in a 70-48 win over Northampton. Frazier also caught two touchdown passes.
Damontay Rhem, East Wake: Rushed 17 times for 172 yards and led the Warriors in tackles in a 48-14 victory over West Johnston. Quarterback Tripp Harrington completed 14 of 19 passes for 209 yards.
Cole Sakowski, Corinth Holders: Passed for 283 yards in a 29-13 win over Cameron Union Pines.
Connor Stough, Chapel Hill: Threw for 248 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-14 win over West Brunswick. Arkavius Parks had seven catches for 124 yards.
Brenden Magner, Panther Creek: Threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-21 overtime victory over Holly Springs.
Thomas Jones, Bunn: Ran for 163 yards in a 15-6 win over South Granville.
Kendall Hinton, Southern Durham: Passed for 185 yards in a 25-6 win over Cardinal Gibbons.
