Knightdale keeps the No. 1 spot in The N&O rankings

The top five positions in The News & Observer high school football rankings are unchanged this week, but Garner, Princeton and Bunn move into the top 15. Knightdale, Wakefield Middle Creek, Hillside and Southern Durham each safely advanced through the first round of the playoffs.

Garner had been ranked No. 1 in the preseason, but disappeared from the rankings after losing to East Wake, 54-40.

Bunn shared the regular-season Northern Carolina 2A regular-season title with South Granville and defeated Greene Central 69-20 last week in the first round of the playoffs.

Princeton was runner-up behind unbeaten Warsaw Kenan in the Carolina 1A.
