Knightdale, which was ranked 10th in the preseason, continues to hold the No. 1 position in The News & Observer high school football poll through the second week of the playoffs.

The Knights’ Marquavious Johnson scored with 26.5 seconds left to complete a rally from 12 points down in the second half to take a 16-15 win over Durham Hillside.

Wake Forest makes a big jump this week from ninth to third after its second impressive playoff road victory. The Cougars knocked off Southern Pines Pinecrest 17-10 with a stifling defensive effort.

Middle Creek moves up one spot to second. Millbrook, which has road wins against Leesville Road and Wakefield in the playoffs, jumps over Southern Durham to take the fourth spot.

Eleven of the current top 15 were ranked among the preseason top 15. Millbrook, Panther Creek, Riverside and Wakefield were not ranked in the preseason.
