Chapel Hill girls, Northern Durham boys still atop N&O basketball rankings

Chapel Hill remains firmly entrenched atop The News & Observer girls' high school basketball rankings. Coach Sherry Norris' Tigers smashed Northern Vance 100-17 in their first game back after the holidays.

Chapel Hill remains firmly entrenched atop The News & Observer girls’ high school basketball rankings. Coach Sherry Norris’ Tigers smashed Northern Vance 100-17 in their first game back after the holidays.

Chapel Hill leads area girls’ teams in scoring with 70.6 points per game and is No. 2 in scoring defense, allowing 30.5 points per game. The Tigers are at home Tuesday against Cedar Ridge.

Southeast Raleigh, whose two losses were to out of state teams, holds the second spot in the poll.

Northern Durham and Panther Creek, which have one loss each, are Nos. 1 and 2 in the boys’ poll.
