Carrboro won the 2014 Mid-State Conference wrestling championship last weekend after winning five hastily scheduled dual-team matches.

Because of weather issues during the preceding week, the conference was forced to change the format from a true playoff tournament to the round-robin duals, Carrboro coach Dwight Driscoll noted.

The Jaguars went 5-0: defeating Graham 64-12; Barlett Yancey 78-6; Reidsville 74-6; Jordan Matthews 72-12 and Burlington Cummings 52-21 (avenging a loss to Cummings earlier in the year.)

All 13 of Carrboro's available starters finished in the top three of their weight class, and nine Jaguars went 5-0: Otto Wolin (106); Hserti Ya (113); George Carpenter (120); Stephen Dreher (126); Trenton Davis (132); Keegan Cordell (138); Maxim Gaut (182); Carson McKay (195) and Magnus Herweyer (220).
