Cary Christian’s boys won the Eastern Plains Independent Conference swimming championships on Tuesday.

The Knights had 302 points, clipping Raleigh Grace Christian’s 271.

The Grace Christian girls (260) were runner-up to host Arendell-Parrott Academy of Kinston (321) while Cary Christian was close behind in third (255).

“The biggest thing I would say is I’m just really glad how hard the kids were able to work, especially after we were all essentially grounded after the snow storm this past week,” said Knights coach Stephen Knaus said. “No one was able to get in the water, no one was able to go to school and so for the guys to work this hard is really impressive. I’m really proud of them.”

Jessika Morgan of the Kinston Free Press contributed to this report.
