Middle Creek senior Fred Iruafemi has signed his letter-of-intent to play men’s basketball at VMI next year.

Iruafemi, a 6-foot-7 center, blossomed as senior after averaging a little more than six points and six rebounds as a junior.

He averaged 12.7 points per game, 10.2 rebounds and 4.9 blocks while also leading the 16-10 Mustangs in steals and assists. He is Middle Creek’s all-time leader in blocked shots.

“We’re very happy for him,” said coach David Kushner. “We went on an official visit up there last week and he loved it.”

Here’s a story on Iruafemi from earlier this year on how he never revels in his highlight-reel blocks.
