Sanderson rallies to beat Enloe

close xRALEIGH -- Sanderson dominated the second half Friday night to give first-year head coach Tony Lewis his first Cap Seven win, a well-earned 38-24 decision over Enloe.
"I really respect that group," Enloe coach Ron Clark said of the Spartans. "They came in here 1-8 and put it to us with a team effort."
The loss left Enloe at 1-4 in the league and 4-6 overall with a game left at Millbrook.
"We felt we might need another win to get in the playoffs," Clark said. "This game could have gotten us in. We'll be ready for Millbrook."
Sanderson, which plays Broughton next Friday, trailed 17-14 at halftime but got the second half started when the defense stopped Enloe on the Eagles' first possession.
On the Spartans' second possession, quarterback Sam Bauckham threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Chris Lampkins and Paul Houston kicked the extra point for a 21-17 Sanderson lead with 4:02 left in the third quarter.
Sanderson scored again 14 seconds later when linebacker Bryan Burke scooped up an Enloe fumble and ran 18 yards for a touchdown, which upped the lead to 28-17.
"That was the big momentum changer," Lewis said. "It was just a great team effort. For us to have just one win and come in here with that effort is what I'm most proud of.
"There were a lot of big plays, like stopping Enloe on a couple of huge, huge fourth downs. To be down at halftime and get a three-and-out on our first defensive series of the second half. The defense came through."
Houston kicked a 40-yard field goal, and Matt James scored on a 2-yard run for Sanderson's other second-half scores.
