• The Hornets got back small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist from a 12-game absence due to a stress reaction in his right foot. Kidd-Gilchrist’s energy and defensive intensity were apparent from the start Wednesday. He’s been missed.
• Hornets power forward Marvin Williams went to the foul line for three attempts in the second quarter Wednesday. Prior to that he had attempted four free throws in 439 total minutes this season.
Never miss a local story.
• Kidd-Gilchrist’s return leaves Hornets coach Steve Clifford with plenty of options at the wing positions. Clifford continued to start Lance Stephenson and Gerald Henderson Wednesday, but Kidd-Gilchrist figures to go back into the starting lineup soon. Small forward Jeff Taylor’s suspension is scheduled to end Dec. 17.
• However Clifford divides those minutes at small forward and shooting guard, Gary Neal figures to keep playing. He is generally this team’s second-most efficient scoring option behind center Al Jefferson.
