• Charlotte Hornets backup center Bismack Biyombo will be out through the All-Star break before returning from a bruised knee. Biyombo has an MRI scheduled for Sunday to gauge his healing. Since there’s only one game beyond Sunday before the 11-day break, coach Steve Clifford said there’s no reason to rush Biyombo back.
• Point guard Kemba Walker is back in Charlotte after knee surgery in New York. Based on the original timetable, he’s at least five weeks away from playing again.

• Hornets got a scare in the first half Thursday when point guard Brian Roberts got popped in the face by a screen and was down on the floor. With Walker out, the last thing Hornets could afford right now is losing Roberts.
