Charlotte Bobcats - Miami Heat Observations

Charlotte Bobcats center Al Jefferson missed his second straight game with more soreness in his right ankle. Coach Steve Clifford said there’s no real change in Jefferson’s status from day-to-day; they hope he can play against the Bulls in Chicago Monday, but no real prognosis.

•  Often when high-profile opponents come to Time Warner Cable Arena (the Heat, the Lakers, sometimes the Knicks) it becomes more a love-fest for the visitors than a home game. Less so Saturday. Seems most of the arena was rooting for the Bobcats (though with plenty of applause when LeBron James did something spectacular).
•  I can’t say where the Heat gets its team security, but there were guys in dark suits talking into their wrists as players ran by onto the court. Miami’s own little Secret Service?
•  Pretty funny skit the Bobcats placed on the overhead scoreboard during a timeout – a satire of Heat fans as starstruck front-runners. It’s not typically the Bobcats’ style to be edgy, but they pulled that one off.
•  One of the Bobcats’ strengths is getting to the foul line. So it was telling that the Heat took twice as many free throws (15-7) in the first half.
